This next 18x24 project is all about Photograms! A Photogram is a really cool thing that we did in art. Our professor chemically treated paper for us and it came out a gray-ish green color. We then put objects, such as paper, forks, keys, sunglasses, or anything onto the paper. We set it out in the sun and the rays bleached the paper that was exposed to the sun. After dipping it in bleach and letting it dry a picture of the outline or shadow of the object was left over. We took two or three classes to do this and then we reiceved our project!
Photogram Project: One 18x24 collage of all of the photograms we acquired. We could use any medium or techniques that we had learned so far.
Photogram:
I had the idea in my head that I wanted to do a kitchen themed project so I brought to class items that were in my kitchen to do my photograms with. I used a fly swatter, spatula, spoons, forks, feathers, keys, mustache and pretzels. The mediums that I used were
paint and
photograms. The techniques that I used were the
use of lines and
shading (with paint.) I started with a white sheet of paper and used painters tape to tape it off. I painted the whole paper black and let it dry. Then I taped off the paper more and around the tape I brushed on some white just enough so that you could tell. It turned out really cool and I was excited to use this as my background! I cut of all of the photograms that I wanted to use, but there were so many that I had that I did not get to use all of them. I first put down of the paper what I wanted it to look like before I started gluing so I would not make a mistake. Then I started to glue and it all came together very nicely. My favorite part of this project is the man with the stache and bow tie in the bottom right corner enjoying his pretzels.
